So long, summer!

Well, folks, it’s been a busy couple of months!

With the Cupcake Wars viewing party, grand re-opening, and back to school student arrivals, we’ve been welcoming the business with open arms (with a lot of help from a nearly unlimited supply of caffeine…)

We spent the weekend of the 4th of July deep cleaning the coffeehouse and doing some touch-up work on that side of things.  I know some of you have been thrown off with the changes, but we appreciate your encouragement throughout the process.  Many thanks to our friends and family who have helped us with these changes and long nights!

Have you seen our new sign?  She’s a beaut!

This weekend is the finale of Omaha Fashion Week and our very own Dan Richters is a designer for the event…if there were some sort of voting process, he’d definitely have ours.  (Plus, he’s one heckuvah barista!)

We are having a tea-tasting this Friday evening at 7:30 (lead by Tim from the Tea Smith)…so don’t miss out!

September is the month that we are going to be featuring Beansmith’s Nightingale Blend for our dark roast of the month…so. good.  As we get deeper into fall, we’ve got some exciting options coming up…can we just mention…pumpkin?  Let it be!

We are appreciative of your support…and please keep us company this fall-whether you need a place to study, hang out, get baked goods-we’ve got you covered.  Don’t forget about our Fridays…at least a couple of Fridays/month we will be having live music of some sort.  If you or someone you know would be interested in playing sometime, email Kacie with a link to your music!  (kaciearomas@gmail.com)

Artists!  We’re ready to hang more artwork up now that our touch-ups are done…email Kacie with a sample of your work and let’s get some of your work up!  (kaciearomas@gmail.com)

The new face of Aromas Coffeehouse

After months of planning, stress, excitement, secret-keeping, anticipation and sleep deprivation-ownership of Aromas Coffeehouse in the Old Market of Omaha, Nebraska is being transferred tomorrow-(Friday, July 1st, 2011).

Jeff Milewski has owned Aromas for the past few years and is going to London to graduate school in the fall and taking his place as owner is Autumn Pruitt-who also owns Bliss Old Market Bakery-which is conveniently located inside of Aromas.

Managing aromas will be Kacie Burkum who comes from a background of management and has experience specifically managing in the coffee industry.  Kacie went to school for photography and is busy running her own photo business as well- (Good Morning Dear Photography.)

The skilled baristas of Aromas Coffeehouse are: Kat, Tara, Michelle, Dan, Kalani and Jordan.  We are confident that we have the best, and best looking baristas around ;)

We are changing from Cultiva to Beansmith Artisan Roasted Coffee as our coffee roasters/suppliers…they are located in La Vista and are masters in their trade…we couldn’t be more pleased with their product and we hope you love it, too!

We went to Beansmith for a few tastings and narrowed down our favorite for our House Blend which will be available all throughout the year-Guatemala Huehuetenango-and as a bonus, it’s certified Fair trade organic!  A lot of Beansmith’s product comes from farms that are working toward becoming certified FTO as well.

Tonight-the night before the big day-we are working on a 9 hour playlist of tunes for the shop…come visit and get delicious beverages…oh and don’t forget about pastries!
